Ascent Trip ReportBig Laurel Knob is a 1-mile round trip from the gate on FS2074, NW of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The first half of the hike is gently downhill on the road. When the road turns sharply left, follow an abandoned road on the right past a gate into an open field that's popular with deer hunters. Head up the left side of the clearing into the woods and you may find a hunters' path that will lead you near the top. You don't have to go all the way to the 4105 spot elevation, because the eastern peak has a 4160 contour.
