Ascent Trip Report

While staying at the adjacent resort, I was drawn to the steep hill that the USGS maps call Mount Pleasant along Waters Bay. While snorkling around the Sugar Bay resort I swam over to their adjacent private beach and saw no signs or gates saying to stay away. It looked like a James Bond private beach only 100 feet wide covered in rocks and a steep stairs upward. I hiked up the steps to the main drive and hiked up to the top 240 feet above sea level but was feeling uncomfortable about not having gain permission to enter so I returned to the sea and came back the next day and stopped at the guard gate and obtained permission to climb up the main winding road to go see the hotel and rooms to see if would want to stay there the following year. Granted we climbed to the top and tagged the peak and enjoyed the views of Water Bay and Footer Pt. The views were a little more impressive at this resort than the one we were staying at but there was more to do at Sugar Bay. Both, however, stand up high above the coast and afford nice views.
