Ascent Trip Report

This was my first 10,000 footer summited. Started out at Green Lakes TH hiked in past a few waterfalls as the trail followed the creek drainage. Took the fork over towards Moraine Lake passing the impressive Miller Lava Flow along the way. After a short break by the lake, headed up the trail towards the summit. Above treeline Broken Top to the east provides a dramatic prospect. Pitched the tent @ 6500-7000 ft. Next morning headed up and summited @ 10 am - I didn't see anyone else on the top when I got there, but soon after there was a steady stream of folks coming up of all stripes. Headed down and out to the TH & went back to Eugene. The following weekend was spent at Three Mile Lake on the Oregon Coast - no mountains but a beautiful place: forest > lake > dunes > beach > ocean. The lake is swimmable too. Saw otters in Tahkenitch creek.
