Ascent Trip ReportPeak # 3 of 3 on a Plan B day in the Angeles National Forrest, including Lewis-Williamson-Waterman (start of Hunting Season in CA prevented us from safely hiking our original peaks of Monument, Cajon, Bailey, and Sugarpine_.
Pieced together a quick series of hikes along the Angeles Crest Highway from the 15 - in order to still have a great day of hiking, but also nab a few HPS peaks for me (yea!). Total stats from the day (including the previous 5 miles on dirt roads until getting warned by hunters) = 18.5 miles, approx 4400 feet of gain.
Waterman - took the 1.9 + 1.1 mile trails on the other side of the ski lift and near Buckhorn Campground. BEAUTIFUL trail - one of my favorites thus far in the ANF. Fantastic trail - the snow that fell on Wed made the north slopes a bit snowy, but overall (and in spite of the elevation and snow), we were okay. Had we continued on to Twin Peak, the snow most def would have hampered our ability (without technical gear) to reach the top. Waterman was the last peak of the day - beautiful summit block and very straightforward trail - my 87th HPS peak! Yea!
