Ascent Trip ReportThis is a 2-mile roundtrip from the Linwood Access (not the main visitor center for the state park). The Backside Trail climbs almost 700 feet, mostly on a gravel road with 334 wooden steps at the top. Great clifftop views to the east and south, including (left to right) Spencer Mtn, Gastonia, Charlotte skyline, Jackson Knob, and Henry Knob. The red-blazed trail continues beyond the clifftops to the actual HP, which is an outcropping on the east side of the foundation for a radio tower (beware of fallen razor wire).
