Many of the guided tours from San Pedro were 100Q-180Q so, as usual, I opted to climb solo.

I left San Pedro around 3:30am and started walking towards San Juan were the trail head of the front side of the mountain can be found. As I arrived at the trail head it was 4:00am and being told that the climb up this side took 2.5 hours I decided to jump on the chicken bus and take it around the back side to Santa Clara in order to make it to the summit for sunrise.

Paid 5Q for the 30 minute bus ride up to Santa Clara. I had no idea where the trail head was so I just started walking up.

I made my way through local trails and corn fields and got lost for about 5 minutes before making it back onto an actual trail. After about 30 minutes I arrived on top of the chin, took a couple pictures and then headed up to the nose.

I arrived on the nose around 5:15am, watched an amazing sunrise over the lake at 5:59am and then hung around reading my book until 7:30am or so before heading down.

I was the only climber on the mountain and there were two "trail guardians" at the top. They tried to get 100Q out of me for the trail fee but I knew the price was 20Q.

I paid them and then headed home.
