Ascent of Jay Peak on 2013-08-29
|Date:||Thursday, August 29, 2013|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||3858 ft / 1175 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI climbed Jay and Big Jay running up the ski slopes, which was more or less fast walking up the slopes. Jay is right along the LT, and is fairly well marked. Big Jay was not impossible to find at all, and can be climbed by following the LT north from Jay to its intersection with the Big Jay Wilderness. There is a tall fence and a sign at this location, and there is a very well put-together herd path about 50 paces (I know it's not exact, but sorry, I don't carry a tape measure with me) northbound from this fence, and is located on the left (west). Herd path is about a mile long, and there is a sled and canister hanging from trees at the summit (however, the canister was missing when I got to the summit, and only found the metal bar)
