Ascent Trip ReportThis was my 3rd time up Eagle Cliff Mountain. I wasn't going to do it again, but my son, Marshall, came to visit me while I was working at the YMCA Camp in Estes Park and he wanted company while he did a short acclimatization climb the first day. We started from the Twin Sisters Lodge at the 'Y' and ascended the south slope, which had a steep trail that basically went straight to the summit. We covered the 1.75 mile distance in 40 minutes. We had to hurry on the summit to take our photos because a lightning storm was making its presence known about 5 miles to the south. We reached the lodge again in about the same length of time, but I can't understand how we ascended in almost the same as we descended. Maybe my GPS was wrong. I didn't use my watch. |
