Ascent Trip ReportMy third "ascent" of Glacier Point. Each at a different stage in my life: firstly as a teenager with my parents, secondly in my early-30s with my wife (pre-children) and lastly in my 50s taking all my offspring. OK so it's only a drive-up, but what a stupendous place to be!
Like some other trip reporters I did this the day after a Half Dome climb as a rest and to see where I'd been the day before. We took the DNC shuttle bus up to Glacier Point ($25/$15 each, one-way), walked along the old stagecoach route (some bush-whacking required) to Washburn Point for a slightly different view, then up Sentinel Dome, and finally down the "Four Mile Trail" into the valley to complete a long but marvellous day. |
