Ascent Trip ReportGuided by RMI as a Big City Mountaineers group. Climbed up to Muir Saturday and spent the night. Watched storms roll in and the air become electrified but it held off for the most part. Roped up around 12:30 the next morning, still watching some lightning in the distance but never enough to turn us around. Clear up high just as the sun was rising but as soon as we climbed higher, we were socked in. Total white-out conditions, temps probably in the 20s plus 20mph winds on the summit. Decided not to continue over to Columbia but we summitted. Back down in record time, boot-skiing down the snowfield. |
