Ascent Trip ReportSolo trip, my 10th and final Enchantments area Bulger. Decided to do the long and scenic version of this peak rather than the standard North approach. Drove over to Leavenworth on Thursday night and car bivied at the Eight Mile TH, I thought it might be more quiet then the busy Stuart Lake TH. Got an early start trying to beat the 11am predicted thunderstorms. On the Stuart Lake trail at 3:30am, hiked in the dark all the way to the base of Aasgard, didn't see anyone else, hmmm wonder why? Made the top of Aasgard at 6:30am, hiked down through the basin and made the top of Prusik Pass at 7:30am. Tried to stay as high as could above Shield Lake from the Pass, easy terrain to get up onto the Druid Plateau, all dry this time of the year. Made the summit of Cannon at 8:30am, 5 hours from the car. Took some photos called home because I could, and headed back. Had some lunch in the basin and made it back to the top of Aasgard at 11am, right when the storms were predicted. Skies were blue though, hiked down Aasgard and preceded to jump in Colchuck Lake as fast as possible. Back at the car at 2:15pm. 10.75 hours car to car. |
