Ascent Trip Report

A short but very miserable/tough bushwack northwest bound from Hwy #315 ..... 800 meters, 1:15 hours RT including all of the wandering around.

From the East PEI high Point we drove back to the Caledonia corner #24/315 and continued northeast on 315 for .75km to an old dirt road on the left, just before the crest of 315. We parked here this was our TH.

I guess at one time this road used lead northwest 200 meters to the HP area (the PB coordinates), not the case today. The first half is not bad (badly overgrown but with a walking path), but the rest is no longer (mostly a tough wack in very dense brush, luckily it is not long).

I would find out that this area, as reported in Greg Slayden's TR, is in my opinion not at all natural, a lot of bumps/hogs-backs (water ever you want to call them) with holes and trenches, all over the place .... evidence of past excavations.
I fought-my-way/checked-out the area to my satisfaction and concluded that there are 3 Areas that contend for the present HP. There is nothing natural here.

Using the PB Coordinates as my Reference Data Point the 3 Areas are located as per below.
AREA 1 ... to the right side of the road at 50 meters southeast of the PB coordinates, my GPS 46.06785,-62.70744.
AREA 2 ... to the left side of the road at 40 meters southwest of the PB coordinates, my GPS 46.06772,-62.70816.
AREA 3 ... 15 meters northwest of the PB coordinates, my GPS 46.06808,-62.70810. This spot is about 200 meters from the TH. I built/added a small pebble cairn, besides my tape.

***** I have no way of measuring for exact elevation but I am choosing AREA 3 as today's KINGS COHP.

I added fushia colored flagging tape to the areas I visited.

We drove east to Souris to check on our ferry to Iles-de-la-Madeleine for the the 5th .... we decided to try stand-by on tomorrow's 14h00 hour ferry.
We overnighted at the Red Point Provincial Park Campground just east of Souris ..... it was full, but the friendly folks of PEI gave us a free parking spot for the night, they even brought over a picnic table .... how nice is that.
