Ascent Trip Report

Started on reservation road on north mountain trail. The first half mile is a wide trail and then it climbs up to the ridge that has the west and north peaks on it. There are a number places to go out to large rocks to get a partial view toward the south. The trail drops down steeply with two large rock faces as it heads toward the pond. When we got near the marsh before the pond we decided to bushwhack up Rocky Ridge. It lives up to its name as we had difficulty finding a way up. Either start at the ends or you may need climbing gear. We did get up there and the view from the main rock outcropping was great. Climbed back down and got on the south ridge trail to south mountain and the fire tower. Fantastic views from the tower, binoculars are a plus. Hiked down to Tower road and back to the car on reservation road.
