Ascent Trip Report

From I-15 south of Butte I found exit 102 for SR 43. I headed west (signed for Divide and Wisdom) just under 2 miles to signed Road No 447 for Fleecer Mtn. This road heads up between two buildings and initially looks like it could be a driveway. If you reach a cattle guard just north of the highway, and some signs, you're on the right road. Note that the signs include an indication that the road is closed to vehicular traffic from December 2 through May 15.

The following road log may be of use:

0.0 Leave state highway 43
2.5 Cross a cattle guard, there are a bunch of signs - continue straight on main road
3.9 Cross another cattle guard and fence line. Stay left at 3 forks in the next 1/2 mile.
4.9 Another cattle guard. There is a sign on the fence to your left indicating a motor vehicle closure. Based on my 2008 USFS map, and the maps posted on various signage in the area, the main road straight ahead is open to vehicles May 16-December 1. I think the sign applies to other tracks in the area. You will need 4WD and high clearance beyond here, if you haven't already.
6.1 Cross a fence line. The road has gotten narrow before this, and is sort of a cross between a jeep trail and an ATV track. I got up it in my 4Runner.
~6.8 Find a parking spot near the height of land on the road.

The hike:

See the attached GPS track. It's pretty easy to pick a route through the woods down low, and it gets more open up higher. You'll want to keep left of the cliffy areas. My track goes over the western summit on the way to the benchmark, but you don't need to do that - the eastern summit is definitely higher.
