Ascent Trip ReportA southbound bushwack from Hwy #114 ..... 3km, 1h40 hours RT.
This is Fundy National Park's HP. I started my bushwack on the Park's Hwy #114, at its highest elevation signed "Altitude 366 Meters", 9.6km south of the Parks North Entrance (45.62449,-65.04856).
I took a line right-of-compass-south (200 degrees) for about 1km (all a gentle downhill which puzzled me, I erred in favoring too much right, had to take a number of stops to check position) .... arriving at a low/boggy area I had to go east for half a kilometer to the obvious High Ground (all the climbing is here). I orange blazed this whole route which is fairly easy .... open mixed woods with some rotted dead fall.
The wooded HP is obvious, took my coordinates at a tall tree, some rock, 45.61641,-65.04919 ..... I am not the first to visit this summit, an old faded orange tape is on the tree, I added my own orange tape. I backtracked to the Hwy.
It s very disappointing to see no maintained trails to Canada's National/Provincial Park's HPs. This is not uncommon and each time I make-it-a-point of sending a complaint to the powers to be. I feel that the decision makers have little knowledge of the user's needs .... who doesn't want to go to a HP? A trail with an observation platform would be amazing in this area of Canada.
From here we moved on to the Westmorland COHP.
