Ascent Trip ReportGreat family hike for kids ages 7 and up. Plenty of ledge walking. The Acadia guidebook the AMC puts out is incorrect. It states that the South Ridge Trail is 1 mile when its actually 1.5. Not a big deal unless you're with tired kids. It also says there are 360 degree views. There are 180 degree views of Somes Sound and the mountains beyond, and the ocean. This is a great mountain because you won't get the crowds that the other half of Acadia gets. You also don't have to pay to get in! |
