Ascent Trip ReportFollowed the excellent directions from Mike Schwartz and parked short of the closed gate (pull off on left). I hiked up the black road and took the jeep path to the west. Mike suggested going a few hundred yards along the road and bushwhacking up to the ridge crest. Fred Lobdell recommended continuing west, until a bulldozer path is seen above, and taking that. I think things have changed, as the jeep path takes you all the way to just short of the summit. Of course, I didn't realize this until I was on my way down. I took the jeep path until I was just south of the summit, and bushwhacked directly up toward it. Some stuff was easy to get through, but other areas were totally choked up with thorns. At one point, I popped out into a small clearing, with a road (bulldozer/4WD) south, and a road-trace heading up (north). A short battle through some thorns brings you to the summit ridge. Walk along until you hit the high point. When I went down, I followed my rapidly dying GPS to the clearing and took the road south, which of course, ended up being the jeep trail I had followed mostly all the way up. Use my GPS path to find it. MUCH easier this way.
When you get back to the gate, look down the hill to the south, you will see the ruins of an old mine patch village. There are 5-6 old building foundations. Interesting ruins.
