Ascent Trip ReportThe Gaelic namne for this summit is Sgorr na Ciche. I remember looking up at the fog-shrouded summit thinking to myself “I hope the fog doesn’t lift by the time I get up there.” Definitely a case of “Be careful what you wish for….you just might get it.” My solo assent started out fine making good progress following a trail the disappeared and reappeared. I could see Loch Leven to the east and the town of Ballachulish in the distance. The higher I climbed the less visibility I had. I met two English guys who camped out on the summit the night before. They had seen a golden eagle on the summit. When they saw I was hiking solo they suggested I turn around. I said I wanted to push on but after 30 minutes I could only see 10 feet in front of me I decided to take their advice. |
