Ascent Trip ReportFull Trip Summary:
Parked at entrance to Sunapee campground and walked access road to Rim Trail Head. Took Rim Trail to Newbury Trail up to South Peak and then continued on to White Ledges. Once I reached the white ledges I detoured off the trail to get on the ledge and was rewarded with a fantastic view of Lake Solitude and great view southeast. Ended up just relaxing here for 20 minutes.
Then onto Mt. Sunapee via the Solitude trail. From South Peak to end of Solitude trail is nice trail, well maintained and easy to hike. This stretch was very enjoyable. At the end of Solitude trail you get out on a ski trail with an access road going up it. I walked trail to summit where ski lodge and chair lifts ended. Walked all over since I couldn't identify actual summit. Some great views over lake Sunapee!
On my decent I was going to bag North Peak but the ski trails were so overgrown with waist high grass I had tick concerns. Just took access road straight down to trail head and up to my car. Overall a great afternoon hike after half-day at work to start my weekend right!
