Ascent Trip ReportStarted at Devils Lake trailhead and followed the South Sister Climber's Trail to the summit. A below-normal snowpack year, but snow patches on trail started at 6000 ft and was pretty solid by 6500 ft elevation. Lost the trail in the snow at the junction with the Moraine Lake trail, but simply followed the south ridge directly for the base of the peak over snow.
Eventually we found parts of the trail amid the snow and a boot track. The evening had been warm so the snow was soft...no need for ice ax or crampons even though we had brought them. The last 1600 ft of climbing up to the rim was exposed trail. Then around the snow covered crater to the high point. Came back the same way and had a few nice glissades down the snow.
