Ascent Trip ReportCaribou Valley Road was in superb shape. I've heard a lot of negatives about it but there are roads near my house, which people live, which are a lot worse. Jersey barriers block the road at 3.9 miles. You need to walk an additional .4 to get to the AT. The AT goes for about a mile, relatively flat. The second mile gains 1,300 ft in 1 mile. I had a moment coming down when I said, "I can't believe I came up this." There are a couple fantastic views of Sugarloaf, Burnt Mountain, and the Bigelows. |
