Ascent Trip Report

An uneventful hike by the standard route well described by others. Views a bit hazy due to the late hour on the summit (3pm) and the heat of midsummers day. At the time of our visit (June 2013), the road from Tonopah to Belmont had been recently resurfaced and was in great shape. The road up meadow canyon was not so good (overgrown to the point scratches on the vehicle sides were inevitable). The last mile up to the ridgeline were also a bit eroded and a challenge for our rented Jeep Liberty. We blew a tire on a rock on the way down and limped back to Tonopah on a narrow spare (known in the US as a donut apparently). I was not impressed to find out about that when we went to change it but we were grateful that it held until we could get a new proper tire fitted. Unfortunately we didn't get the tire until mid-morning the next day, which scuppered our plans to climb Arc Dome. Oh well, at least Tonopah had a really neat historic wild west hotel serving good food to rescue the day.
