Ascent Trip Report

Best view of the day. Levy, Calhoun, and Bay Counties were not particularly nice views - typical of FL, but at least this small hill off Deltona Blvd has some view down each side of the power easement. I Parked on the paved cul-de-sac (no name that I remember) jsut before the easement and where Deltona Blvd. drops down hill and becomes a red clay road. I walked down a trail south and found a retention pond. I hiked up and over and down the backside and bsuwhacked down the backslope until the bushwhack was simply unpleasant. I then hiked back up to the retention pond and headed east along the pipe's easement to Deltona Blvd and enjoyed watching the abundance of 6 lined race runners - clearly the fastest of all the herps in FL. Good luck getting a glance at this rapid moving lizzard of the FL scrub.

At the top there is a view along the power easement. A "view" is a relative term. In any normal state it would not be considered a view but for Florida a drop of 200 feet is unusual. Ha! Can't wait to get back to Maine this summer and hike something with real relief.
