Ascent Trip Report

Trip reports by Adam Helman and Edward Earl gave me enough info to find the summit. In homage to their good information I'd like to provide some updates.

There is a more direct route from the Gold Creek trailhead to the dead end logging road (and quarry site). Starting on the main trail after a few hundred yards there is a small trail to the right (the second right - the first loops back to the trailhead). Bear right at each junction and you will hit the dirt road.

The simplest instructions are to follow the dirt road nearly to the end - close to 3 miles of road. If you count turn-offs to transmitter stations you'll turn too soon, as there are now at least six such turnoffs. The travels East on the South side of the ridge, then crossing over to the North side for most of its run. The road eventually rounds the Eastern end of the ridge and heads West on the South side of the ridge again. The steepest parts are paved. Helman's instructions are good, but no longer accurate. His overgrown trail is nearly non-existant (I followed it up) and doesn't start from the paved spur - it starts from a gravel spur that heads North about 50 yards before the final paved spur. A simpler approach is to backtrack slightly from the end of the gravel road (where the final paved spur heads North) to the other side of the gully and head straight North to a green power box 15-20 feet off the road. From there continue North up the old trail to the summit.

The summit marker is about 6-8 feet NNE of the stump. The Geocache bucket under the stump is damaged and everything in it was damp and moldering, including the log book. If anyone heads up there taking a new small bucket would be welcome.
