Ascent Trip ReportThis is a drive-up and the driving directions of "trailblazer" M Schwartz, in his TR of 2000, are still good.
The area has had some changes this past year, this according to a truck driver that stopped to ask "Area you OK".
A Gas Pipe Line right-of-way (east-west) is just north of the fenced-in Communication Tower and in-between this right-of-way and the fenced-in Tower is a new access road that leads to a Gas Metering/Relay Station just east of the Towers. This new road & installation is all fenced-in with a gate at the main road and is clearly shown on the Bing Satellite Map.
I walked the area and the right-of-way, eventually finding a spot to get inside the fenced-in Tower. I tried to get in via Dennis Stewart's chained-padlocked gate but it's not for me ..... I guess I'm somewhat thicker.
I was able to crawl under the gate for the new access road (on the right side, where it ties-in to the old Tower fence).
I checked out a bump inside the woods (north of the right-of-way and I believe the one that Michael refers-to) and it does not look natural. I went to the first house north (on Dusty's Lane) ..... the guy cutting the grass (whose been living here for 45 years) confirmed this (it's the result of drilling for a gas well). Apparently Bradford CO has over sixty Wind Turbines and a lot of gas wells.
"HAPPINESS, I HAVE DISCOVERED, IS NEARLY ALWAYS THE RESULT OF A HARD/TOUGH CLIMB."
