Ascent Trip Report

Second peak today (Mt. Jo being the first). It was easy to find the TH and the first section was a very nice level walk through the woods. When we came to the beaver pond things got a little wet. On the backside of the pond, the recent rain and snow melt has essentially flooded the trail. Even though it seems that it would be marshy in dryer weather, the planks provided to walk on were submerged and we just trudged right through. The rest of trail past that was pretty muddy and just seemed to continue going up at a pretty steady pace. The actually summit is tough to tell, but you'll come out at some rock ledges with great views. In another 0.1 miles (according to the trail guide) the trail almost comes to a T. To the right is another lookout ledge and to the left the trail continues down the other side of the mountain to the bobsled run. At this point we just turned around, grabbed a snack on the ledges and made our way back down. I've now got 10 mountains done in 2013 and Jax has 9.
