Ascent Trip ReportI met John Hamann for this hike. The drive left Utah Hwy 36 just south of Vernon and followed Benmore Road south to a "T" intersection where we went west. We followed this road to USFS 603 (4WD, high clearance) bearing right at the junction at elevation 6352 to stay on 603 (downhill at this spot) until it reached a "T" at USFS 601 where we turned left. I dragged my 4Runner up this (fortunately, I've already scratched it so much that I don't care anymore) to just across the stream bed crossing above the mapped spring in North Pine Canyon. It's pretty much an ATV track by this point.
From there (see GPS track) we went up the canyon to its head at a saddle, and followed on and near the ridge top to the summit. The canyon is brushy, and especially bad between 7600' and 8100' elevation, but on the whole not too bad a route.
