Ascent Trip ReportAt 9:30am I was the first person to sign in on the day, though several parties had made the ascent the day before. Awesome state highpoint! And my first since Louisiana in 2010. Pretty wild thunderstorms all around, but I threaded the needle all day out on the plains, hitting 6 cohps in CO & KS.
Though it was a fun and successful day, it was a terrible terrible day for prominence.
This was my first county highpoint in Kansas and, though I had previously hit cohps in 27 states, it was also my first county highpoint in the Midwest.
After a terribly junky experience on county highpoint number 50 in Washington Co., RI, I decided I wanted to try to do something slightly more interesting for the round numbers.
cohp #100 (& #101): Mt. Whitney
cohp #150: Mt. Eddy
cohp #200: Mt. Sunflower
(The beautiful and highly recommended Strawberry Mountain at 175 was merely coincidence.)
