Ascent Trip Report

Took exit 43 (Goshen) from I-64. Turned R onto VA-780 and then the first left to stay on VA-780 (West Midland Trail). Followed 780 for 2.6 miles, parking at a turnout in the Rich Hole Wilderness. No trail marker, but there was a wooden post marked '13.'
The trail was faint but easy to follow up to the col, at which point it petered out into undergrowth. I took the steep path up the ridge, and followed to the summit. Recommend staying to the right, or you'll be forced off the ridge and have to regain elevation. I did a little scramble to touch the top, where I came within inches of stepping on a rattlesnake! Lucky it was cold and the snake was pretty inactive.
