Ascent Trip ReportHiked in from the PA on 37 across from the Giant Parking Lot. Hiked up the road to the farthest point where the trail indicates to head into the woods, after a short distance there is a small lookout point which gives a full view of the entire lake from tip to tip the trail continues up until you emerge out onto one of the most beautiful views in all of NY state. This is Indian Head, the trail continues down to Fish Hawk Cliff which give a great view of the Indian's Head. Very cool. Continuing down the path towards Elk Pass is an intersection with the trail that loops back to the road which we decided to take rather than continue to Nippletop for the full Loop via Dial. There was still snow up high and conditions unknown, our party was not prepared to break trail for any amount of time. The return loop is beautiful along the Gill Brook, with all the rain and snow we had this weekend the brook was raging with all the flumes and waterfalls in full effect.
