Ascent Trip Report

My humans just took me on a long walk. We finished my first County HP! Was the best trip ever!

On way back, mamma stopped SUV at a clay forest road. Mamma took off leaving us? Master and I chased after the car. We found mama parked at intersection of the forest road and a jeep trail. Master was huffin' and puffin' but I was excited to see mamma. I licked her face. Slurped lots of water from bowl. Then we all headed down jeep trail.

Plenty of puddles to splash in! Tried drinking more water. Master said "no drinking puddles filled with mosquito larvae!" Mamma stopped me. When we got to bearing where master's USGS map shows an observation tower, there were wooden barricades. Master left us and bushwhacked in while I chewed sticks. He found the high ground among a bunch of reindeer moss and tiny diameter sand pines. He came out and we strolled further the jeep trail. I found a pine cone to chew, master found a trail back to the old tower site. The tower is now gone. So is the pine cone!

Splashed in more puddles. Chomped on more pine cones. Run back to car. Mamma puts me in hatchback and I collapse on favorite blanket. Driving home, master spotted several deer in the road and next to our car a small black bear crossed road in front of us too! We stopped to watch it. I wanted to go outside and play with the black fuzzy ball. Master did not allow. Mamma complained that master always spots all the wildlife before anyone else and right then, a coyote jumped out into the road! Master slammed on breaks. I went tumbling snout over paws into the back of mamma seat!

Then, I saw the coyote he braked to avoid. "A cousin of mine??? I wanted to play!" But I watched my cousin suddenly disappear into the woods. Nobody wants to play!
Best trip ever!
