Ascent Trip Report6 1/2 hour round trip up N and down S Hancocks. Still a lot of snow in the woods and I wish I had brought snowshoes although Micro spikes helped a lot. Accent up North was steep and varied, lots of snow bridges where water had eaten out the snow and you'd fall thru to the trail. Deepest was just about waist deep. Trail from North to South was in good shape as long as you walked on the ridge built up by winter hikers compressing the snow. Trail down South was more snow covered and butt scooting a few times shorted the down hike to the intersection to just about 15 minutes . Stream crossings where a challenge and eventually I broke thru a snow bridge into a side stream but a mile out with one soggy foot wasn't too bad. |
