Ascent Trip ReportThis was an LVMC outing that took an unusual route. We went up through Pine Creek Canyon, took the Fern Canyon fork, and then went right up the side of the canyon to intersect the usual Bridge Mountain route just before the infamous crack that leads to the Hidden Forest. Airy ledges, steep slabs, and cracks led us up to this point, then the final ascent to the summit. This will probably be my last Red Rock Canyon climb until fall, as the temperatures were already uncomfortably hot on the descent, which was via Rocky Gap Summit down to Willow Springs, where our car shuttle was parked to take us back to the Pine Creek TH. This is a very challenging route, but aesthetically pleasing for many reasons. A beautiful climb. |
