Cross country hike across the Eastern border of Anza Borrego Desert State Park with five peaks bagged. Started up the CHRT and then bushwacked up to Hut BM (4308 ft). Made our way over to Bonny BM (4574 ft). Next we went by Chimney Rock then summited the unnamed rocky peak by Chimney Rock for a bonus peak #6. Continued on to White BM (5326 ft). Scrambled down the other side of White and then went over to The Thimble (5779 ft) just skirting the edge of private property but never entering into it. Climbed the Southeast corner of The Thimble and found the 25 ft chimney just below the summit. Chose not to climb the final pitch today for safety with the winds blowing 50 mph up there all day. Then circled around The Thimble and went down the North side and continued through the saddle and followed game trails over to the South base of San Ysidro. Climbed straight up San Ysidro (6147 ft) and found the only cairns of the day to lead the way up to the summit. Winds also blowing 50 mph+ on the summit, wow! Came back the same way and then traversed around White on the East side. Returned to Bonny and summited again to retrieve Shelly's anemometer that she had dropped in the summit cave. Followed more game trails back to the start. Was a much tougher hike today with sustained winds all day of 20-30 mph and 40-50+ mph on the summits. Awesome hike, Phew!!
Found all benchmarks! Station and Reference #1 on Hut. Station and Reference #1 on Bonny. White BM from Calif. Div of Beaches & Parks, not Corps of Engineers, and summit register can was missing. San Ysidro Station and Reference #1 and #2. Read online that summit register on Bonny was soaked so we replaced the missing ziplock bag.
