Ascent Trip ReportSurprised this wasn't in the database before, considering the interesting terrain and great views. Parked at the southernmost parking area in Macedonia Brook State Park at the blue-blazed Macedonia Ridge Trail. After a steady climb to the northwest, the trail hooks right and runs along the rocky ridge with great views of the valley and other peaks to the east. After passing South Cobble Mountain, the trail dips into a col and then up Cobble Mountain proper. It provides some semi-strenuous hiking. After passing the white blazed Cobble Mountain Trail on the right, went the rest of the way west to the summit. At the top, there are incredible views to the west into New York, including the Catskills on this beautiful and clear April Day. There are also clear views to the north of the Riga Plateau (including Bear, Frissell, and Everett).
For the descent, I took the very steep white-blazed Cobble Mountain Trail, the first half of which is very rocky. Passed several groups climbing this on my way down. Eventually arrived at the main office for the park and walked east on the main road to my car.
