| Date: | Saturday, February 27, 1993 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Mount Cook-Low Peak | Location: | New Zealand | Elevation: | 11788 ft / 3592 m |
Ascent Trip ReportHooker Glacier tough to negotiate; difficult to get from glacier to Pudding Rock across moat. Long descent off Porter Col, across Empress Shelf and over Earle's Ridge and back to Empress Hut. Lots of crevasses. At one point an avalanche that would have likely swept us off the "Shelf" poured into a large crevasse that we were fortunate to have been on the down side of. |
