Ascent Trip ReportI took the day off because I was going to have some minor eye surgery today. I got the urge to climb Bridge again, so I went up and parked in the lower lot (not the Rocky Gap summit), which adds two miles round trip to the over all climb. I set out and made the summit in 3:10, sat on the summit and read the registers, finding my last climb from last October. However, the registers only went back to 2009, so Bob Burd's climb in 2008 is somehow gone. I don't know who takes the old registers, or what they do with them, but they're an important part of the history of climbing and those who pursue it. I was disappointed the older registers were gone. I was able to make it back down to my car in 2:45, give or take, and I made the doctor's appointment. Now my eye is hurting from the surgery and it'll be back to work again tomorrow. It was good to get out and climb Bridge again. It's a beautiful place. Lots of exposure and great sandstone climbing. |
