Ascent Trip Report

Out and back hike from Montreat via Graybeard trail and Mitchell Toll Road. Hiked up the State Park road to the Ranger station, then took Old Mitchell Trail to the summit of Hallback, back down to the station and then up to the summit of Gibbes via the Clingman's Peak access road. Total mileage = 20.02. Started hiking at 6:15 AM and got back to the truck at 6:15 PM. No issues. Fred the Wonder Dog accompanied me. Beautiful day and very few hikers encountered. My feet are screaming, so now I know why hiking all the way out to Mitchell and back again is not a good idea. :-)
