Ascent Trip ReportRecommendation #1: Make sure you have enough fuel in your vehicle. There are very long stretches of road without any. I was down to ~10 miles left TWICE.
Recommendation #2: Hotels in Pecos are not cheap. It's basically a large truck stop - why are the hotels so expensive?
Drove over from Austin the night before and stayed in Pecos. Left the hotel at 7:00am CST and drove just under 2 hrs to Guadalupe National park. I crossed the MDT time zone, so my hike started about 8am MDT instead of 9am CST. Up in 1:30, 30+ minutes on the summit, down in ~45 mins. Very nice trail and great hike.
07:51 - Started from Pine Camp ground parking lot.
09:21 - Summit, ate snacks, signed log book, took pictures.
09:57 - Begin descent
10:39 - Back at car/parking lot
