Ascent of Griffith Peak on 2007-11-04
|Date:||Sunday, November 4, 2007|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||11060 ft / 3371 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThis was our first visit to the Mount Charleston area. After spending the night at the Fletcher View campground -- and not getting much sleep since the locals insisted on partying late into the night -- we attempted to do Charleston Pk early the next morning. The TH was not well marked and we wasted some time trying to find it. Consequently, it took us longer to reach the ridgeline than we'd expected, and with the shorter daylight hours in November, we abandoned the idea of Charleston Pk and settled on Griffith Peak instead. This was an enjoyable alternate with good views of the distant Las Vegas strip. We returned three years later to do Charleston Pk, choosing (wisely) to stay in the Mt Charleston hotel halfway up the mountain.
