Ascent Trip Report

On my way to Blue Mountain Lake for the weekend, I saw the sign for the Sawyer Mountain trailhead and decided to look it up before leaving the area. With my friends heading back home Sunday morning I wanted to climb something short and sweet to cap off the weekend. The dog and I stopped here on our way back to Glens Falls and decided the view from the top might be worth a look, so off we went. There was a good amount of snow still (maybe 8-9 inches) but the trail was well broken. I left the backpack, snowshoes and microspikes in the truck and we moved fast and light. It was a quick hike with some steeper spots, though they don't last long. We made it to the summit and went over the backside to where the view was. Definitely worth the trip. Took a few pics and caught my breath and we made much better time on the way down. In total it was 55 minutes from my truck, to the summit and back. Additionally it was my 6th peak towards my personal goal of 52 different mountains in 2013.
