Ascent Trip ReportI had my eye on this place for a while, and I finally got to visit it on 2/12/13.
I parked at the Nottingcook Forest kiosk on South Bow Rd. I strapped on my snowshoes, checked out the trailhead sign, which looked a lot like the White Mountain signage, and set out on Hamilton's Path.
The trail passed by a house, then went down into the woods. It soon ascended and curved left to a viewpoint of Mount Monadnock and Crotched Mountain. The Pack Monadnocks were also visible, although obstructed by trees. After taking in that view, I continued.
The trail passed a snowmobile trail and later came to a 4-way junction- Nancy's Path went right; the Great Hill Loop went straight and left. I turned left toward the summit.
After climbing a bit and passing a few downed trees, I reached Great Hill's summit, which had a good view toward Mount Kearsarge. I took a swig of water and finished the loop, which had another view to the north of Fort Mtn and the Belknap Mountains. I headed back down Hamilton's Path after reaching the junction.
