Ascent Trip Report

Began overland from the highway to a dry wash/gully. The rock is very sharp limestone. We encountered several pourovers that added some fun third class scrambling to the hike, most of which could be walked around if too tough. The pourovers are smooth and lack traction in places. We eventually came to a very tall one we couldn't pass, so I scrambled up the exposed well to the left looking to traverse above the feature. It proved badly exposed with bad rock in places, so Collin took Jodie back to the walk around as she is just learning to scramble. From there it was a slog up moderately steep ridges of loose scree on dirt to the summit. Views of Pahrump Point, the town of Pahrump, Nopah Point, Eagle Mountain, Brown Peak, Telescope Peak, Mount Charleston, and even the Sierras from the top.

***I did not have a GPS for this outing so I uploaded Jim Moorehouse's track which was similar but not exactly what we did.
