Ascent Trip Report

An easy effort in open plowed fields ..... .7 miles, 35 minutes RT for both.

I used Fred Dale's TR of 2002 ..... nothing difficult here, this is farm land so both areas need to be visited after the harvest. I have just added some information for Area 2 (west point).

We drove the long Private Road 30650 north to the abandoned house and barn buildings in poor repair, located on the north-south ridge line, 5 men chatting together. Chase came up to us as we got out of the van. He gave me permission to walk the field.

I walked the farm track north about 400 yards, then left to the high ground in the plowed field, nothing obvious. When I got back I met/chatted with Harold (Chase's grandfather) for a good while. They do not own the land, they lease/work the land together with other near-by land, alternating crops. He knew that this was high ground but thought the Area to the east (pointing to it) was the HP of the County.
"The water to the north/east drains to the Red River and to the west to Sulphur River".

"MAMAS, DON'T LET YOUR BABIES GROW UP TO BE COWBOYS,
THEY'LL NEVER STAY HOME AND THEY'RE ALWAYS ALONE,
EVEN WITH SOMEONE THEY LOVE."
