Ascent Trip Report

A dirt road/pasture/bushwack eastbound ..... .4 miles, 15 minute RT.

From Bradford in Anderson County, intersection Hwy #19/FM837 (north of Palestine), we drove east on FM837 for 5.7 miles to a left on CR458, 3.2 miles north we arrived at the Anderson/Henderson County Line where we continued north on FM2588 for 4.5 miles (crossed Hwy#175 into the village of Larue) to a right on Loop60, .1 mile left on FM607, .9 miles north right on CR4348, .7 miles east left on CR4336, .4 miles north stay right on CR4346, .7 miles east turn left on CR4334, 1 mile north arrive at a private driveway on the right (the ungated large entrance has a cattle guard).

The grass land beyond the entrance had cows and one horse, the house can be seen in the distance. We drove the long driveway .6 miles to the house built on the west slopes of Tater Hill, an outstanding location/views to the west.

We knocked at the door, circled the house and walked to the barn area, no one around. The fact the entrance is ungated led us to believe that this property is friendly, so we decided to go for it, Rose stayed back to take the heat.

I crawled under the white gate just north of the house and walked the dirt road east 150 yards to pasture land, then northeast across the pasture about 100 yards to the woods, where I hopped a fence and bushwacked to the high ground (about .2 miles from the white gate). I gave it my best to stomp the area, nothing obvious, called it good and got out ASAP .... my nervous gut telling me to get out.

Rose and I drove back to the front entrance at parked there for a lunch stop ..... hopping to see the owner drive in, so we could ask for permission !!!!!! We left after 20 minutes without the necessary permission.

"THE TENNESSEE STUD WAS LONG AND LEAN
THE COLOR OF THE SUN AND HIS EYES WERE GREEN
HE HAD THE NERVE AND HE HAD THE BLOOD
AND THERE NEVER WAS A HORSE LIKE THE TENNESSEE STUD." ..... chorus "Tennessee Stud"
