Ascent Trip ReportSince this has so many candidate spots I will never go to verify I will paint it "red" as not completed and be satisfied that I visited the area and let the enthusiasts that want to trample on 18 individual spots have turning it "green" not my thing when there is that many to visit. Red is just fine with me.
As for the spot visited.........On way back from hiking in NC. Family indulged me to back country explore America a bit and nab a nearby CHP. This one is quite boring but as always, I try to find a way to find one or more routes that are a bit more interesting and any type of foot on the ground hike out of it if possible.
Family dropped me off in Orangeburg County on the North side of the bridge crossing the Edisto River. Climbed down and touched the water's edge of the Edisto River to set a TH elevation, then climbed back up and crossed the narrow bridge into Bamberg County; then proceeded a short walk up the hill along US 21 (Low County Highway)into Colleton County and found the HP near the road as advertised.
Thus, I told my family I had to hike through 3 counties to "bag" this difficult CHP. Ha! Less than a mile and no more than 60 feet gain from water edge to HP
