Ascent Trip ReportAnderson Mountain is a drive-up, just over a mile on Tower Road from NC16 where it transitions from 4 to 2 lanes, 35 miles NW of Charlotte. Tower Road is accessible only from the southbound lanes. It's paved all the way, although the last 0.8 mile is narrow and badly potholed. I found BM Anderson 1933 on the far side (SW) of the last tower, but I think the highest ground is probably on the near side--along the road at the site of the long-gone fire tower. The ridge is forested, but in winter you can find nice views of the Charlotte skyline.
On the other side of NC16, Anderson Mountain East also is a ranked peak (300 ft prominence), but there is no public access and there is a house on the highest point.
First ascent for our new puppy, Lord Spencer of Wormleighton.
