Ascent Trip ReportToday I hiked Big Indian and Fir. It was cold in the 20's and snowing. The creek crossings were very difficult. I first got up to big Indian and tried to bushwack over to fir. It didn't happen. It was almost like a white out up there and hard to see anything (and I don't trust my compass skills). So I went back down to the creek and ascended the west face of fir. It was long, cold and difficult. Doing the hike the way I did it made it probably one of the most difficult ascents of two catskill peaks for me. |
