Ascent Trip ReportWalked in from car which we left on the col. We felt a bit nervous as we knew we were probably not going to make the summit. Our host for the previous night had made it clear that entry was forbidden. Vehicles were using the track but no one challenged us. We walked round the perimeter of the military compound and considered waiting at the gate to ask permission to enter. Then we thought....if they say no (as they are probably bound to do)we would feel unable to enter secretly. So we just went for it! It was easy to get under the fence, no one seemed to be about and the cross marking the summit was only a few metres away. Found a rosary left at the cross, which seemed very poignant. Stuart took a photo of me by the cross. We walked briskly back to the car. There is a very curious cross worth a look near the col. |
