Ascent Trip Report

COHP.ORG gives 3 Candidate High Point Areas, 2 Areas on Stewart Hill (PB Library lists these areas as Beaver County High Point #2) and one area at Big Knob per below.

Big Knob Road crests south of the summit at the intersection with Mellon Road (2.4 miles east of hwy 68). I parked in the driveway to the left, 15 yards passed this intersection.

From Mellon Road I climbed the steep embankment and bushwacked north to the summit at about 300 yards. Fairly steep to the top, where I picked up and followed a trail and passed-by the USGS BM ..... I guessed the actual high ground to be the north of the BM (east of a large fallen tree) and a good distance north of the spot elevation on the topo map. I forgot my eye-glasses and therefore couldn't read my GPS or BM.

From here we drove to the area in the Stewart Hill area .... see Beaver County High Point #2.
